Increasing Your Marketing Effectiveness When Working Online
By: TJ Philpott

When working online it is always important to do what you
can to increase your marketing effectiveness. Marketing on
the internet involves many tasks that need to be done and
some can be very time consuming. It therefore only makes
sense to always try to get the most out of any efforts you
invest. Since our ultimate objective is to convince people
to do business with us we must first put them in the right
frame of mind by focusing on their convenience and comfort.
When people are relaxed and content they will be more
receptive to any marketing message presented them.

Here are 5 things to be considered when marketing on the
internet that will help 'set the stage' for a more
enjoyable customer experience leading to an increase in
sales.

Respect Others Time

People online typically scan more than they read since
there is so much to see and it is all available at the
click of a mouse. Besides that, like you and I they have
other things to do. With that being said be sure your pages
load quickly and your content gets right to the point
before people decide to leave your page without viewing
anything. How can your marketing message have any effect
when nobody even sees it?

Make Layout 'User Friendly'

Post content that is useful for the people and not blatant
advertising about the business you are representing. For
starters since these visitors do not even know you that
simply do not care! True that you may be advertising your
business but the site design needs to one with the user in
mind. Offer then information that is interesting or useful
or both and make the layout easy to navigate. One other
note is to avoid 'overly' using graphics or bright colors
since this is both distracting and stressful on the eyes!

Relevant & Useful Content

Keep your content relevant to the ad that attracted your
visitor and as mentioned above offer useful or otherwise
intriguing information. You do not want people to feel they
have wasted their time after leaving your site.

Engage People

The best way to keep people from leaving your page is to
engage them in some manner. You want to capture their
interest or curiosity to get them to read further down the
page. By asking questions or making thought provoking
comments you are 'drawing' people further into the
'conversation' compelling them to read more. Remember the
only way to get an increase in sales is to be sure your
marketing message has been delivered and this can not be
done if people do not read your content!

Network

By going out into your selected niche and interacting with
others you stand to learn more about current events,
marketing tips and even attract additional traffic to your
site. When working online it can be easy to stay 'busy'
with your day to day tasks thereby neglecting any
'interfacing' opportunities which could benefit you
greatly! Be conscious of this and make the effort to leave
time for networking with others!

Constantly striving to improve your marketing effectiveness
when working online always makes good business sense. You
can get more out of the same amount of effort by ensuring
site visitors have a comfortable experience. In doing this
they will be more receptive to your marketing message
thereby leading to an increase in sales for you. The 5
things discussed above are considerations that take into
account a persons convenience and comfort level when they
are visiting your site. Your are in affect rolling out the
welcome mat and taking measures to be sure people feel
welcomed, find what they are looking for and without
wasting their time.

Tips & Techniques

Tough Times Demand Bold Marketing Moves

By: Andrew Wood

Stay with me on this one; it’s very important to your
success…

I was having a conversation this week with someone on the
inside at a major real estate development we have been
trying to get as a partner, for years. The problem it seems
is that the developer feels “I am too bold” and that my
“aggressive approach” to generating leads and sales makes
him uncomfortable. So instead of partnering with us, he has
a ten-year history of hiring inept and expensive ad
agencies to produce image stuff that has FAILED MISERABLY
in selling his homes or memberships, despite a course and
development that is easily among the world’s best!

Quick Quiz:

Name a timed general: Napoleon, Creaser, Rommel, Patton,
Lee, McAuther, Attila the Hun, not easy is it?

How about a timed football coach: Lombardi, Ditka, Gruden,
The Big Tuna?

Or, a timed and well-known CEO/sales person: Herb Keller,
Richard Branson, Donald Trump, Jack Welch?

No, I can’t think of any of those either.

The fact of the matter is GOOD sales and marketing people
are by nature not the humble, quiet accounting types.
SORRY! If they are, their work probably sucks! What’s more
in TOUGH TIMES, the more outrageous, bold, and different
your marketing is, the more effective it will be!

I don’t care if you are selling green fees, lessons, resort
packages, memberships or real estate. The more (within some
parameters of where you are positioned in the market)
outrageous your marketing approach and the more
irresistible your offer, the more effective you will be in
cutting through the drudgery of your competitors.

Go to www.GarlandUsa.com to see the highly successful
Garland Inquirer or here for the as yet, hot off the press
and untested, Oak Terrace Tattler.

Check out the picture on page #25 of the Garland Inquirer,
a great golf hole, like so many other great golf holes, in
every golf magazine you have every picked up, except this
one has a 1950’s Style UFO hanging over the green in the
sky. YOU HAVE TO LOOK and then YOU HAVE TO READ!

People have told me this is hokey, tacky, tricky and a host
of far more unpleasant things and yet, we are working on
the 4th edition of the Garland Inquirer. Not because it’s
fun to do, not because people love it or hate it, but
simply because it WORKS! In the most devastated economy in
the USA, Garland continues to get spectacular results by
being “out of the box!”

This holds true for you, in every e-mail you send to drive
play.

Every letter you send to generate membership leads.

In every ad you run to produce real estate leads.

If you do not JUMP, YES JUMP off the media at the
prospect’s BRAIN you have lost the race before you even got
to the starting gate!

Leave the subtle approach to those with deep pockets who
want to personally fund the economy and have no concern for
results!

And repeat this little ditty in your head anytime someone
shoots down your bold ideas in favor of dull golf industry
conservatism.

He with something fine to sell Whose message, gently
whispered down a well Is not as apt to get the dollars As
he who climbs the tree and hollers!

When times are tough, people are even more apathetic than
usual but at the same time they want escape; they crave
stimulation, they want to dream! Show them the same spa
image everyone else is using (they lady with rocks on her
back) and yawn, and on they will go… Use the same puff,
real estate spiel that changes not one iota from state to
state and don’t be surprised if you get the same results
everyone else is getting, NOTHING!

As Virgil so aptly said, “Fortune favors the bold!”

Be brave, be bold, think outside the bun with your
marketing and do (key word) DO the something you have NEVER
done before!

Today's Chuckle

hahaA young broker had just started his own real estate office.
He rented a beautiful office and had it furnished with
antiques.

Sitting there, he saw a man come into the outer office.
Wishing to appear the hot shot, the broker picked up the
phone and started to pretend he had a big deal working. He
threw huge figures around and made giant commitments.
Finally he hung up and asked the visitor, "Can I help you?"

The man said, "yeah, I've come to activate your phone
lines.
