The Ins and Outs Of Backlinking

Basically backlinks are incoming links from other blogs and websites that are linked to your site. Backlinks are also known as inbound links and inward links.The more backlinks coming to your site the more visible you will become on the world wide web. For example; Jane visits your blog and likes it; she then has the opportunity to backlink with you. Then Frank visits Janes blog and likes it and see's Jane's backlinks to your site. Just out of curiosity he visits your site. If interested he also has the option of backlinking to your site. It's a win-win situation and is a great way to increase targeted traffic.

Another way to get some good backlinks is posting your signature link to forums and leaving comments on various related blogs. Just be sure they are highly visited sites that you would be proud to be backlinked with. No point in linking with a dull blog that doesn't have any real visitors or doesn't have fresh content.


You can see how many people are backlinking to your website by logging in to Google's home page and typing the word "link:" in the search box. Then hit the enter button and you should be able to see the links that are backlinked to you.If that doesn't work for your website, you can also go to Mozilla's free add-ons and type SEO in the search box. There you will find free tools to download; once the download is complete you simply type  your website's url in your browser.You can also type in "backlink checkers in the search engine and find some other sites where you can see how many sites are backlinked to your website.


Downfall to Backlinking

One of the bad qualities about backlinks are you have to be careful who you are backlinked with. It will make you look bad with the search engines if you are linked to a site that doesn't have any SEO. You must also make sure the site linked with your site contains up to date content that is refreshed often. The content needs to be accurate, clean and of good quality.


Ways to get multiple links

The other way you can get backlinks is to use a paid link service. You pay the company and they in turn link you up with other similiar sites as yours. This may not be a great way to increase traffic though because the company you hire may not be a desirable and trustworthy business. You will have to research the company's history to make sure previous customers were satisfied with their results. You can't always go by testimonies on their website because; well because they may not be real people with real testimonies. As always it's best to use your gut feeling and check the Better Business Bureau before handing over a lot of money.

Another way to get backlinked with popular websites is to go straight to the company itself and ask for permission. Let them visit your site and see if they would consider backlinking with your site.The worst thing that could happen is they would just say "No, not interested."
